Job Summary

The University of Kentuckys Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering is recruiting for a full-time, twelve-month, tenure-track faculty in bioenvironmental engineering, to be stationed at the Princeton Research and Education Center located in Princeton, Kentucky. This position, in the extension title series, will have an approximate start date of July 1, 2020, with a distribution of effort of approximately 65% extension, 30% research and 5% service. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an integrated, nationally recognized research and extension program with a focus on sustainable water management. It is anticipated that the candidates program would include emphasis on use of large, multi-source datasets for operational decision support; sustained availability of water resources; water harvesting; water use efficiency; integrated plant/nutrient/carbon modeling; precision application of water and chemicals; or other similar topics.

The successful candidate is expected to: develop a nationally recognized research program evidenced by publications in leading peer-reviewed scholarly journals; and attract external funding to support research efforts, including funding of graduate students; and create a proactive, high-impact extension program that supplies clientele with relevant, state-of-the-art informational content; and demonstrate commitment and ability to work with teams of researchers on interdisciplinary problems, and particularly with other faculty associated with the Colleges Grain and Forage Center of Excellence; and recruit and direct MS and PhD graduate students; and contribute to the multi-functional land-grant mission of the Department.

Qualifications include: a Ph.D. in biosystems/agricultural engineering or a closely-related field with an emphasis in surface and subsurface hydrology, irrigation, grain and forage production, and/or meteorology relevant to grain and forage production; and
have a P.E. or demonstrate the ability to qualify for a P.E. in Kentucky; and the ability to conduct high-level independent research and oversee graduate student research; and ability to conceive and implement training and information programs for both technical and non-technical audiences; and demonstration of outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
