Job Description

The Analyst, Advanced Analytics will report to the newly appointed head of Advanced Analytics in the Global Analytics and Data Management organization and should be a generalist who leverages a broad suite of analytics capabilities to derive business insights from data and translate them into actionable recommendations.  The Advanced Analytics team is responsible for applying new capabilities to accelerate analytics-driven support for critical commercial business decisions and is responsible for framing a long-term analytic strategy and identifying accompanying resource requirements.  The team will address unmet analytic needs in the areas of Resource Allocation, Marketing Mix Optimization, Patient Data Analytics and other areas presenting novel business problems to the Commercial teams Global Portfolio, Regional Marketing and Sales, Brand Teams, and other key stakeholders.

 

The ideal candidate is passionate about analytics and data science with a deep understanding of the potential value of, as well as the issues and challenges with, using data to support decision-making. They should be able to support the team lead in recommending and developing analytical solutions, demonstrating curiosity and creative thinking as relates to the use of data.

 

Principle Responsibilities

Execute on a range of projects employing data analytics to address business problems pipeline strategy, patient dynamics, portfolio segmentation, analog analysis, etc.

Proactively query datasets to uncover actionable insights and business opportunities / Use data visualization tools to illustrate results and clarify analyses

Keep up to date on relevant datasets, tools and methods that could enhance commercial analysis / Maintain a database of projects, models and reports that can be continually leveraged

Demonstrate analytical thinking, attention to detail and the ability to discern patterns in data / Translate data and analyses into a tangible, compelling story for non-analytical stakeholders

Be highly collaborative and work effectively with others on matrixed teams / Demonstrate comfort working in a global environment         

Work successfully in complex, ambiguous and rapidly changing environments

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelors Degree in a technical or quantitative field from an accredited college or university
  • 3 + years in an analytically oriented role in the pharmaceutical or health care industry
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical data sets (sales data, claims data, patient level data, etc.)
  • Experience in conducting marketing and sales analytics (promotional response, marketing mix, etc.) / Expertise in statistical techniques (regression analysis, cluster analysis, etc.)
  • Experience in building fit-for-purpose models for data analysis and simulation / Proficiency in Microsoft suite of business software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of business intelligence visualization tools such as Tableau, Qlik or equivalent
