Ovum, the largest European-headquartered advisor on telecoms, software and IT services has an opportunity for a Senior Forecaster to work as part of Ovum’s centralised forecasting and data analysis team. You will be an experienced forecaster with strong statistical, analytical and model building capabilities. You will have relevant experience of developing forecasts for bespoke/consulting projects and have a proven track record of delivering your work on time and to a high standard.


The successful candidate will have experience of presenting to senior level executives and be able to clearly demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively to both our internal and external customers. In addition, the position demands that you are able to demonstrate initiative and a flexible yet organised approach to providing forecasts across a range of different industry segments and subject areas in response to changing market dynamics.




  • Produce high quality and on time delivery of key forecasts to internal and external Ovum clients.
  • Present Ovum forecasts and methodology to internal and external customers
  • Actively participate and develop forecasting models for the mobile, media and broader telecoms markets covering key metrics such as revenues, subscribers and traffic.
  • Carry out research and provide detailed analysis of key metrics for trend analysis of market and technology developments.
  • Work closely with analysts and researchers from other divisions as part of the forecasting and modelling process.
  • Undertake development work to assure quality and consistency of Ovum forecasts are maintained to high standards.



What are we looking for:




  • 1:1 in a business, economics, statistics or mathematics based degree
  • Experience of delivering high quality bespoke projects for clients
  • Proactive with excellent problem solving skills to assure timely delivery of key high quality forecasts
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel model-building skills including VBA
  • Excellent research skills for ongoing analysis and understanding of industry trends and key strategic issues
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly numerate with a strong understanding of statistics
  • Strong understanding and awareness of the influence of economic factors on market development




  • Knowledge of the telecoms and media industries
  • Experience of working with statistical software packages
  • Master’s degree in applicable subject
  • Highly literate to provide clear and concise written documents on key factors such as assumptions and methodologies
