All functions dealing with the management of an Outside Sales Territory in Idaho. Will act as the liaison between the customers and Reliance SLC office. 

  • Develop an understanding of the steel business, and your role within it.
  • Comprehend the changing market dynamics and be able to communicate to your customers.
  • Locate and develop profitable business opportunities within your territory in a professional manner.
  • Provide customer service
  • Understand your customers business challenges, cycles, and needs.
  • Find and develop valuable ways to partner with customers and implement solutions to meet their needs.
  • Review and analyze monthly reports related to sales volume and profitable management of the territory.
  • Negotiate pricing with customers using information from inside sales people and purchasing.
  • Manage pricing agreements with routine updates.
  • Acquire information needed to set up new customer accounts.
  • Develop business relationships and customer loyalty by spending personal time with the decision maker.
  • Engage in activities such as meals, sporting and cultural events, golf, etc.
  • Develop and conduct sales presentations as needed.
  • Attend sales meetings as scheduled.
  • Complete accurate and timely expense reports with proper documentation.
  • Complete accurate sales accountability reports as required.
  • Drive company car to make sales visits to assigned customers; drive 5000+ miles per month.
  • Be away from home 4-6 nights per month.  Willing/able to work varying hours, not 8-5 hours only.
  • Have a clean driving record, and obey all traffic and safety laws.
  • Abide by all company policies and procedures.
  • Be willing to do other tasks as assigned based on sporadic needs with a good and positive attitude.
  • Manage customer specific inventory levels and communicate closely with the purchasing dept.
  • Serve as backup to inside sales as needed.
  • Learn and utilize eStelplan software efficiently.


  • Candidate must reside in Southeast Idaho.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Advanced math skills and the ability to apply them.
  • Good verbal and written communication and grammar skills for dealing with customers face to face.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Sales, social, and relationship building skills.
  • Valid driver license and clean driving record.
  • Geographic knowledge of the territory and surrounding areas; be happy and content to live and work within the area.

  • 1-2 years of Sales Experience
  • Bachelors Degree
