Position:
The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics invites applications for a non-tenure-track, 10-month Clinical Assistant Professor in the area of Integrative Biology in the Department of Biological Sciences beginning August 2018.

 

Qualifications:

PhD in biological sciences, as well as experience teaching at the college or post-graduate level is required. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and demonstrated scholarly ability a must, with curriculum development experience preferred. Candidates with integrative research backgrounds that connect across two or more of our department’s areas of expertise (organismal biology and ecology, cell and molecular biology, and physiology) are preferred, such as organismal biologists or ecologists who are familiar with addressing research questions using molecular techniques.

 

Responsibilities:

Primary teaching responsibilities may include introductory lecture and laboratory classes, upper-level courses in the areas of expertise listed above, and courses on topics that integrate across those areas, and will include both traditional lecture courses as well as course-based undergraduate research laboratory classes (CUREs).

The Department of Biological Sciences (http://www.towson.edu/biology) is dedicated to providing high-quality education to both undergraduate and graduate students, with a focus on endowing students with the knowledge, skills and techniques necessary for success at Towson University and beyond. In particular, we are committed to providing students an opportunity to conduct authentic research, both through conducting independent research in faculty labs, as well as participating in authentic research as part of course-based undergraduate research (CURE) laboratory classes. Towson University was recently the recipient of an Inclusive Excellence grant from the Harvard Hughes Medical Institute, which will fund the creation of new CURE classes in diverse disciplines in Biology and other departments. This grant highlights our ongoing commitment to supporting our diverse student body in reaching their educational and career goals in science.
